New MacBook Pro does not detect my .. monitor?
I just bought my MacBook Pro 2.53GHz 13In about a week ago with minidisplay to DVI. Today, my DVI-D came in and I plugged my monitor into the DVI cable, the cable to the adapter, then the adapter to the MBP. Before plugging the DVI cable to the adapter, my monitor says no signal DVI (planned), when I plug the cable into adapter, this message disappears, then it goes into power-saving mode. When I plug the adapter into the MBP, nothing happens … Screen remains black. Go to System Preferences and click on "Detect Displays" does nothing either. I am running OS X 10.5.8. I am using the adapter Apple DVI cable and a Monster DVI-D. My monitor is a 22 inch hyvision Megavision and works fine via VGA on my Xbox. I tried resetting the pram, reconnect cables, etc. The MBP is connected to the power that is not the issue. I have no idea what to do now and I'm pretty upset frustrated … If anyone can help me it would be appreciated.
Try turning off your Macbook first, and once the laptop switched off completely, connect everything. Then, power up and see if the monitor connected gets detected.
